Happy Thursday! I thought I would bring you a before and after of our kitchen update. We still have a couple things we want to add, like bar stools and maybe swap out our lighting. Colin also would LOVE to have a hood above the stove, but, we will see. Lol. Let’s get to it.. I’ll make it as short and sweet as possible, but we know you all just came here for the pictures!!
We bought our house a the end of 2017 and the kitchen as you will see in the images below needed a LOT of updating. We knew we wanted different cabinets and countertops. I wasn’t sure exactly about anything I wanted like colors, finishes, etc. I would suggest starting with a Pinterest board to keep track of all your ideas.
The month we moved in I couldn’t take the color of the cabinets anymore, so we painted them gray. I still consider painting them white but I kind of love that they are different then the typical white. They sometimes give off this pretty blue color too. Before we painted them we reached out to Home Depot to get a quote on replacing the cabinets. The cost was going to be up to $30,000 to replace and install brand new ones. It was insane! We knew this was not an affordable option for us and we didn’t want to have credit card debt. We decided to stick with painting them. To have all of the cabinets painted cost us $600 and it was finished in only 2 days.
Fast forward to 2019, we finished with the sink, countertops, and backsplash. We put off finishing the rest of the kitchen for so long since we knew it was going to be a big expense. Home Depot helped us with the whole process and thank goodness because there is no way we could’ve done this alone.
We sat down and chose the finish for the countertops with quartz (the brand is Silestone) and our backsplash is basic subway tile (in Carrara Marble). To have both of those installed, Home Depot sent someone to remove and install our counters and sink in one day and replace them. We had our backsplash done separately and hired someone outside of Home Depot to save a couple of hundred bucks. We purchased our sink, faucet, and door hardware all from Amazon.
Honestly, my favorite part of the kitchen is the sink! We could not decide on this one or a basic white farmhouse since we thought it would look better with the gold touches. Our first sink was a white drop in and we hated it. White shows everything and it was extremely loud. We ended up obviously going with the silver undermount and have loved it since. A lot of people don’t like to mix the gold and silver but all of our appliances were silver so we didn’t mind.

Moving on to the gluten-free cookie recipe I promised….
Ingredients:
2/3 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup coconut sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 & 3/4 cup almond flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 bag of Little Secrets Peanut Butter Pieces
Directions :
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. Combine (Room Temp) butter with coconut sugar.
3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mix well.
4. In separate container, mix almond flour, salt, and baking soda.
5. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the coconut sugar mix.
6. Form your cookies onto the sheet, add the chocolate last on top.
7. Put in oven and cook for 10-12 minutes!
Makes about 12 cookies if you like them big 🙂
